The white grape variety is a new cross between Olasz Rizling (Welschriesling) x Piros Tramini (Gewürztraminer). The crossing took place in 1980 in Hungary by the breeder Karoly Bakonyi. It is cultivated in small stocks in the areas of Balaton-felvidék, Balatonfüred-Csopak, Etyek-Buda, Somló, Sopron and Zala. In 2016, a total of five hectares of vineyards were designated in Hungary (Kym Anderson statistics).
