Paterberg

single vineyard in the municipality of Nierstein in the German wine-growing region of Rheinhessen. The name (Pater = monk) goes back to a former monastery. The west-facing vineyards with a slope of up to 60% cover 147 hectares of vineyards in gently rolling formations. They have soils of loess, clayey loam and marl. The varieties Riesling, Silvaner, Scheurebe, Müller-Thurgau and Pinot Noir are cultivated here. The wineries Bacchushof, Domhof Baumann, Huff Fritz Ekkehard, Louis Guntrum, Raddeck Stefan, Schneider Georg Albrecht, Seebrich and Strub Walter, for example, have shares in the site.
