The red grape variety originates from Italy. Synonyms are Brugnera, Cavazza, Covretto, Crova, Crovarina, Giuncanesa Nera, Moron Nero, Pallona Nera, Parma, Parmigiana, Plissona, Psilona, Rossara and Uva Parmigiana. According to DNA analyses, it is a presumed natural cross between Coccalona Nera x unknown partner. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
