The winegrowers' association was founded in 1994 by seven winegrowers from the municipality of Gols in the Burgenland winegrowing region of Neusiedlersee (Austria). The main goal is to establish a Burgenland appellation with wines typical of the area. The name comes from a geographical point of view, as the area is part of the Pannonian Plain (the Roman name of the province was "Pannonia"). Every year, each Pannobile winery produces independently and from its own grapes a maximum of one red and one white wine cuvée Pannobile. Each producer uses only grapes with high physiological ripeness from 100% indigenous grape varieties, pays attention to extreme yield reduction, and ages the wines gently in wooden barrels.
