The winery "Pago de los Capellanes S.A." is located near the municipality of Pedrosa de Duero in the heart of the DO Ribera del Duero in the northern Spanish region of Castilla y León. The property was given its name centuries ago when it was still owned by the Roman Catholic Church and was frequently visited by the chaplains of the Pedrosa parish. Since 1980 the finca has been owned by the Rodero Villa family. The vineyards at 800 metres above sea level cover about 100 hectares and are mainly planted with the varieties Tinto Fino (variety of Tempranillo), Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The yield is limited to a maximum of 5,000 kg/ha, which is far below the official DO specifications. The Bordeaux-style wines produced are rather untypical for the region.

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
