Common name in Spain for small vineyards or parcels of land with uniform soil and homogeneous climate(terroir), limited by topographical conditions. According to an old tradition, the winegrowers of the Spanish Jerez region, where the sherry is produced, divide the wine growing area into Pagos. The term can be roughly equated with the French Clos. However, it should not be confused with the new wine quality grade Vino de Pago, which was introduced in Spain in 2003. A list of keywords relevant to the vine area can be found under vineyard area.
