The white grape variety (also Würzburg B 51-8-28) is a new breeding between Riesling x Müller-Thurgau according to DNA analyses carried out in 2012. The paternity of Rieslaner given in the breeding list turned out to be wrong. It was named after the Egyptian god and "lord of winemaking" Osiris. The cross was made in 1951 by Hans Breider (1908-2000) at the Bavarian State Institute for Viticulture and Horticulture in Würzburg. However, the variety did not establish itself in practice. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson).

Serious sources on the internet are rare - and Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one such source. When researching for my articles, I regularly consult the wein.plus encyclopaedia. There I get reliable and detailed information.
