Osiris (grape variety)

The white grape variety (also Würzburg B 51-8-28) is a new breed between Riesling x Müller-Thurgau according to DNA analyses conducted in 2012. The parent variety of the Rieslaner listed in the breeding list has proven to be incorrect. It was named after the Egyptian god and "Lord of Winemaking" Osiris. The crossing took place in 1951 by Hans Breider Hans (1908-2000) at the Bavarian State Institute in Würzburg. However, the variety has not established itself in practice. In 2016, no stocks were reported (Kym Anderson Kym).
