Osella

The red grape variety (also FR 498-90 R) is an interspecific new breed between Solaris x Muscat Bleu. The crossing of the hybrids took place in 1991 at the State Wine Institute Freiburg (Germany) by Norbert Becker (1937-2012). With the same parents, the new breeds Galante and Garantos were also created. The early ripening grape is resistant to frost and both mildew types. It is used as a table grape. Due to its decorative leaves, it is also very well suited as a ornamental vine. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
