Organic seal

Labelling for products that at least meet the requirements of the EU Organic Regulation. In July 2010, a binding new organic label (also known as the EU organic label or EU organic logo) was introduced throughout the EU. It consists of a leaf stylised with 12 white stars on a green background (bottom centre). Non-EU countries are now also aligning their regulations with the food law of the European organic label.

Criteria for the organic label

A product can be awarded the EU organic label if it contains no more than 0.9% genetically modified material and at least 95% of the ingredients come from organic farming. Organic certification is required for organic viticulture.
