The winery is located in the municipality of Illmitz in the Burgenland wine-growing region of Neusiedlersee (Austria). Attached is a guest house. There are also supporting programmes for the festivals in Mörbisch and Margarethen or a day with a carriage ride in the National Park Neusiedlersee. The trained mechanical engineer Willi Opitz began his career as a winegrower in 1995 and is considered one of the best advertisers for Austrian wine abroad. Innovative and unusual marketing activities are set again and again. On November 4, 1996 (US election day) a sweet wine was harvested and named "Mr. President" in honor of Bill Clinton's re-election. A case of it was sent to the White House, Clinton returned the favor with letters of thanks and visited the winery personally in 2001. The "McLaren" was vinified for the Formula I racing team on the occasion of a visit to the winery by Ron Dennis, the head of the McLaren Mercedes racing team, and the "British Airways 1st Class" for the English airline. And in the famous London department stores "Harrod's" and "Fortnum & Mason" the CD "Sound of Wine" is available in the wine department (besides Opitz wines), on which the bubbling of the fermenting Opitz wines can be heard.
