Ohio (grape variety)

There are two grape varieties with the name Ohio. The name indicates the possible place of discovery or selection and/or cultivation in the US state of Ohio :

USA - Vitis bourquina

The red grape variety originates from the USA. Synonyms are Alabama, Black Spanish, Black Spanish Alabama, Blue French, Cigar Box, Devereaux, El Paso Jacquez, Lenoir, Longworth's Ohio, Mac Candless and Segar Box. It is an American species of Vitis bourquina. It is possibly identical to the Devereaux variety or to the Jacquez variety, with which it shares many synonyms. No stocks were recorded under the name Ohio in 2016 (statistics Kym Anderson).
