The white grape variety probably originates from Germany (or Switzerland). The name is derived from the robust foliage, which rustles particularly vigorously in the wind. According to another version, it is a corruption of "Rußling" (from soot or for "dark wood". There are over 60 synonyms, which indicates that it is very old.
