This red grape variety is a new cross between Baroque x Cot (Malbec). The cross was made in 1954 on behalf of INRA by the Basque Pierre Marcel Durquéty (1923-2016) in France with the support of the University of Montpellier. Incidentally, the same parents also produced the new variety Semebat. The Odola variety yields a colourful, fruity red wine. In 2016, 0.3 hectares of vineyards were designated in the Landes département in south-west France (Kym Anderson statistics).
There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
