Nussberg (ratchet)

Reed in the municipality of Ratsch in the Austrian wine-growing region of Southern Styria. The steep vineyards, facing south to southwest with up to 80% slope, comprise 22 hectares of vineyards on soils of lime marl and sand-lime brick. Some of them are terraced, as otherwise it would not be possible to work them. The basin-shaped location results in a special microclimate. Mainly Sauvignon Blanc is cultivated here, as well as Pinot Blanc, Morillon, Gewürztraminer and Gelber Muskateller. The Gross Alois (main part) and Rebenhof Hartmut Aubell wineries have a share of this.
