The red grape variety (also Nocchianello di Gazzaretto) originates from Italy. The parentage is unknown. Nothing is known about a possible relationship to the varieties Nocchianello Bianco or Nocchianello Reale. The vine produces red wines with soft tannins and aromas of blackberries and cassis. It is cultivated in small bunches in Tuscany. However, no stock was reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
