English term (nip = bite, sip) for a bottle size that is usually used in airplanes, ships, trains or in hotel mini-bars. Also known as a dinky or quarter, the 0.1875 litre bottle corresponds to one quarter of a normal 0.75 litre bottle. The Pony bottle type has the same volume. See the complete list of all bottle designations under Bottles and generally under Wine Vessels.
In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
