Nikolov Wine

Name used in Germany and Austria (including St Nicholas' Wine) for a wine whose grapes were harvested on 6 December, the eponymous day of St Nicholas. Naturally, this is usually an Eiswein or a Trockenbeerenauslese. In Austria, Nikolowein or Nikololese is an official wine law term. It may be used here if the harvest date is noted on the label. Similar wines are Christwein, Dreikönigswein, Leopoldiwein, Martiniwein, Stefaniwein and Weihnachtswein. See also under special wines.
