The red grape variety originates from Greece. The parentage is unknown. The very late ripening vine is generally well resistant to various vine diseases. It yields low-acid red wines with soft tannins. The rare variety is cultivated exclusively in the Kozáni area in the western region of Macedonia in old vineyards. There it is used in Liastos (sweet wine) produced from dried grapes. No stocks were recorded in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
