The red grape variety comes from Greece. The parentage (parenthood) is unknown, DNA analyses are pending (status 2013). The very late ripening vine is generally well resistant to various vine diseases. It produces low acidity red wines with soft tannins. This rare variety is cultivated exclusively in the Kozáni area in the west of the Macedonian region in old vineyards. There it is used for example in Liastos (sweet wine) produced from dried grapes.
