Nicoliere

Term for a special form of ocularisation in the grafting of fruit trees. It is derived from the Peter Nicolin nursery in Frauweiler (North Rhine-Westphalia), where this method was developed in 1951 and patented in 1952. When grafting the scion, a short central piece is inserted between the base and the eye. This avoids the incompatibility of the noble rice with the base.
