The wine-growing region is located in the very south of Argentina between the Pampas and Patagonia and includes parts of the provinces of La Pampa, Neuquén and Río Negro. With around 50,000 hectares of apple and pear trees planted, the provinces of Río Negro and Neuquén are considered Argentina's fruit chamber. At the beginning of the 20th century, the Neuquén River was dammed, creating a fertile valley around 120 kilometres long and eight kilometres wide.
