Neumer Jakob

The winery is located in the municipality of Uelversheim (Nierstein area) in the German wine-growing region of Rheinhessen. The first documented mention of the winery dates back 350 years ago, when Balthasar Neumer acquired considerable areas of fields and vineyards from monasteries in the area and from the Counts of Leiningen. The winery has remained family-owned and based in Uelversheim ever since. The descendants Lucia Weinmann, née Neumer and Hubertus Weinmann have run the winery since 1991. Since 2011, the eldest son Theo Weinmann has been responsible as cellar master.

The vineyards cover 30 hectares of vineyards in the single vineyard sites Aulenberg and Tafelstein (Uelversheim), Siliusbrunnen and Tafelstein (Dienheim), Ölberg and Herrgottspfad (Gau-Odernheim), and Schloß (Herrnsheim). They are planted with the white wine varieties Weißburgunder, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Silvaner, Huxelrebe, Gewürztraminer, as well as the red wine varieties Spätburgunder and Dornfelder. The vineyards are cultivated according to the rules of organic viticulture. The certified organic winery has been a member of the organic association ECOVIN since 1991. This includes a cover crop of the vine rows, as well as the renunciation of artificial fertilisers and chemical-synthetic pesticides of all kinds.
