The red grape variety originates from Italy. Synonyms are Nerét Cit, Neretìn, Neretto, Neretto di Cavaglià and Vermiglia. The parentage (parentage) is unknown. It must not be confused with the varieties Neret di Saint-Vincent, Neretta Cuneese (with synonym Neretto di Cavagliá), Neretto di Bairo, Neretto Duro or Neretto Nostrano, despite seemingly suggestive synonyms or morphological similarities. This medium to late ripening, vigorous vine is very suitable for pergola cultivation. It produces pale red wines with low alcohol content, which are almost exclusively used as blends. The variety is mainly grown in the Canavese area in the province of Torino in Piedmont. However, no stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
