According to the information in the breeding list, the red grape variety is a new breed between Negru Virtos x Saperavi. By the way, the new breed Novac was created with the same parents. The crossbreeding was done in Romania in 1993 by the breeders Marculescu Mircea and Vladasel Mircea. However, according to DNA analyses carried out in 2009, the father variety could be Băbească Neagră. The medium ripening vine is moderately susceptible to fungal diseases. It produces full-bodied, spicy red wines with soft tannins and aromas of dark berries. In 2010, 16 hectares of vineyards were designated (Kym Anderson).
