Nag Karl-Heinz

The winery is located in the municipality of Grünstadt-Sausenheim (area Mittelhaardt-Deutsche Weinstraße) in the German wine-growing region Palatinate. The family has been growing wine for centuries. It was established in 1993 by dividing the parental business. The farm is run by Rosmarie and Karl-Heinz Gaul and their two daughters. The vineyards cover 17 hectares of vineyards in the individual locations Schloss and St. Stephan (Asselheim), Schlossberg (Neuleiningen), as well as Honigsack, Hütt and Klostergarten (Sausenheim). They are planted with the white wine varieties Riesling (50%), Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Huxelrebe, Müller-Thurgau, Gewürztraminer and Auxerrois, as well as the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Portugieser, St. Laurent, Dornfelder, Black Riesling and Cabernet Cubin. Wine-growing is consistently practised in a natural, environmentally friendly manner. The quality criteria in the vineyard are reduced quantity yields and selective harvesting. In the cellar the motto is "as little as possible and as much as necessary". The top wines are vinified according to the specific sites. The red wines are matured in traditional oak barrels and in barriques.
