It must not be confused with the Aleatico (Moscato Nero) or Moschomavro varieties, despite seemingly suggestive synonyms or morphological similarities. According to DNA analyses carried out most recently in 2015, it is a cross between Schiava Grossa x Muscat d'Alexandrie (which also explains the extremely confusing synonym Black Muscat of Alexandria)....
