The white grape variety is an interspecific new variety between Elmer Swenson 56 (Minnesota 78 x Cardinal) x Varousset. Synonyms are ES 8-2-43, Muscat de Swenson and Osceola Muscat. Genes of Vitis lincecumii, Vitis riparia, Vitis rupestris and Vitis vinifera are included. The hybrid was crossed by the breeder Elmer Swenson (1913-2004) at Osceola (Wisconsin). The late-ripening vine is resistant to frost down to minus 34 °Celsius. It produces white wines with a subtle muscat tone. The variety is grown on 43 hectares in Canada and on 0.5 hectares in the US state of Kentucky. In 2016, a total of 44 hectares of vineyards were designated; of these, 7 hectares were under Osceola Muscat (Kym Anderson).
