The red grape variety is an interspecific new variety between Severny x Muskat Bely (Muscat Blanc). Synonyms are Don Muskat, Misket Donskoi, Muscat Donskoj and Muscat Donskoy. Genes of Vitis amurensis and Vitis vinifera are present. The hybrids were crossed at the Viticultural Research Institute in Rostov (Russia) by the breeder Ya. I. Potabenko. It is used as wine grape and table grape. The variety is cultivated in Ukraine, as well as in Russia and the Czech Republic. However, no stocks were reported in 2016 (statistics Kym Anderson).
I have great respect for the scope and quality of the wein.plus encyclopaedia. It is a unique place to go for crisp, sound information on terms from the world of wine.
