Muscadinia

Besides "Vitis subg. Vitis" (formerly "Vitis subg. Euvitis"), "Vitis subg. Muscadinia" is one of the two subgenera of the genus "Vitis". Since the subgenus (subgenus) is often only given in short form, the term "Vitis" in particular can lead to confusion, because this is also the name of the genus (genus). Correctly, all species of the subgenus Muscadinia should start with "Muscadinia", for example "Muscadinia rotundifolia". In fact, however, many sources still refer to the Muscadinia species as "Vitis", for example Vitis rotundifolia. See also under vine systematics and vine variety.
