The winery is located in the municipality of Traben-Trarbach (Bernkastel area) in the German Moselle wine-growing region. It was founded in 1991 by Martin Müllen. The vineyards cover almost five hectares in the single vineyards Rosenberg (Kinheim), Kirchlay, Letterlay, Paradies and Steffensberg (Kröv), Königsberg and Würzgarten (Traben), as well as in the Hühnerberg with areas reactivated by the winery (Trarbach). They are 80% planted with Riesling, the rest with Pinot Blanc, Pinot Noir and Dornfelder. Some of them are very old, ungrafted vines. The quality criteria in the vineyard are restrictive fertilisation, special care of the old vines, low yields and selective manual harvesting.

The vinification is particularly committed to tradition. The aim is to produce wines that are typical of the vineyard and can be stored for a long time. Pressing is done with ancient basket press es. Fermentation takes place spontaneously with the vineyard's own yeasts. In suitable years, Trockenbeerenauslese and ice wines are also pressed. Hand-shaken sparkling wine is also produced. The winery is a member of the "Klitzekleinenring", a group of winegrowers dedicated to saving extreme steep slopes.
