The white grape variety originates from Armenia. Synonyms are Ararati, At Uzyum, Dolband, Mashali, Mchali, Messchaly, Mishali, Misqali, Msali, Mschali, Musrali, Spitak Chagog and Spitak Khagog. The parentage (parentage) is unknown. The early-maturing vine is susceptible to fungal diseases. It is cultivated in the province of Ararat and mainly used for the production of brandy, as well as dry white wines and fruity dessert wines. In 2010, 1,093 hectares of vines were still reported; however, in 2016 there was no longer any stock (Kym Anderson statistics).
In the past, you needed a wealth of encyclopaedias and specialist literature to keep up to date in your vinophile professional life. Today, Wine lexicon from wein.plus is one of my best helpers and can rightly be called the "bible of wine knowledge".
