Mouyssaguès

The red grape variety originates from France. The name means "of Moiussac", a commune in the Tarn-et-Garonne department in the south. Synonyms are Farineux, Négret, Pey de Gorp, Peyregord, Plant du Pauvre and Rouge Menu. Dire parentage is unknown. The early ripening vine is difficult to graft. It produces strong, colourful, tannic red wines. It is permitted in south-western France in the areas of Vins d'Entraygues et du Fel and Vins d'Estaing. In 2016, only 0.1 hectares of vineyards were designated for the variety, which is threatened with extinction (Kym Anderson).

The glossary is a monumental achievement and one of the most important contributions to wine knowledge. Of all the encyclopaedias I use on the subject of wine, it is by far the most important. That was the case ten years ago and it hasn't changed since.
