The red grape variety originates from Italy. It is an open-pollinated seedling of the Muscat d'Hamburg variety. The father variety is therefore unknown. Synonyms are Moscatel d'Adda, Moscato Adda, Moscato del Adda, Moscato Nero, Muscat Adda, Muscat d'Adda, Muscat de Adda, Muscat de l'Adda and Muskat Adda. The selection was made by the Italian breeder Alberto Piròvano (1884-1973). The variety was a crossing partner for the Victor variety. It is mainly used as a table grape. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson statistics).
