The winery is located in the municipality of Laubenheim in the German wine-growing region of Nahe. It was founded in the 1960s by Rudolf Montigny. Since 1994, it has been run by his son Sacha Montigny. The vineyards cover 7.5 hectares of vines in the single vineyard Karthäuser (Laubenheim). They are planted with the red wine varieties Pinot Noir, Blauer Portugieser, St. Laur ent, Dunkelfelder and Frühburgunder, as well as the white wine varieties Riesling, Pinot Gris, Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Blanc and Kerner. The white wines are fermented and matured in stainless steel tanks. The red wines are aged in large wooden barrels or in barriques after mash fermentation, depending on the wine type. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines (from Riesling), semi-sparkling wines and yeast brandies are also produced.
