Monosaccharides

Simple sugars made up of one sugar molecule. These include fructose (fruit sugar) and glucose (glucose), which are the main sugars found in grape must, as well as mannose in orange peel and galactose as a component of milk sugar. The first two are components of the dual sugar sucrose. All hexoses and pentoses are monosaccharides. See also under sugar.
