DOC area for red wine in the Italian region of Sardinia. The zone covers the whole island. The wine is made from the autochthonous variety Monica Nera (85%), and, if necessary, other authorised varieties (max. 15%). There is also a Superiore with a higher alcohol content and longer ageing period and a Frizzante. Monica di Sardegna is also a synonym for the Monica Nera grape variety.
For my many years of work as an editor with a wine and culinary focus, I always like to inform myself about special questions at Wine lexicon. Spontaneous reading and following links often leads to exciting discoveries in the wide world of wine.
