The white grape variety originates from France. Synonyms are Aigre Blanc, Bien Aigre, Blanc Aigre, Blanche, Blanchette, Couilleri, Dongine, Donjin, Jongin, Jonvin, Molette, Persagne and Savouette.

The parentage is unknown according to the VIVC catalogue. However, according to Wine Grapes, there is a parent-offspring relationship between Mondeuse Blanche and the varieties Mondeuse Noire, Robin Noir and Viognier. The variety should not be confused with the varieties Molette, Roussette d'Ayze or Verdesse (Dongine) due to some of the same synonyms or morphological similarities. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2021, the Syrah variety was created from a cross between Mondeuse Blanche x Dureza.

There is a vast number of sources on the web where one can acquire knowledge about wine. But none has the scope, timeliness and accuracy of the information in the encyclopaedia at wein.plus. I use it regularly and rely on it.
