The red grape variety originates from Spain. Synonyms are Castellana Morada, Molinera Gordo, Molinera Ohanes, Panse Rosa di Málaga and Pense. The VIVC catalogue also lists Albaranzeuli Nero as a synonym, but Wine Grapes lists it as an independent variety. In any case, it should not be confused with the Molinara variety. According to DNA analyses carried out in 2018, it comes from a presumably natural cross between Hebén x unknown partner. However, this is based on only 20 DNA markers (see molecular genetics). The variety is mainly used as table grape. From a (natural) crossing Girò x Molinera the variety Albaranzeuli Bianco was created. Molinera was also a crossing partner of the new varieties Alba, Lomanto and Vincent. No stock was recorded in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
The Wine lexicon helps me to keep up to date and refresh my knowledge. Thank you for this Lexicon that will never end in terms of topicality! That's what makes it so exciting to come back often.
