Molinera

The red grape variety originates from Spain. There are 20 synonyms, some of which are Albaranzeuli Nero, Alavaranzeuli Nero, Besgano, Castellana Morada, Castiza, Espagnola Gros Graines, Faldo Cardinal, Malaga Red, Malaga Roja, Maraville, Molinera Gorda, Molinera Ohanes, Panse Rosa di Málaga, Pense, Santa Paula and Uva Melone.

Ancestry

According to DNA analyses carried out several times (most recently in 2021), it originates from a presumably natural cross between Hebén x unknown father variety. However, this is based on only 20 DNA markers (see molecular genetics). In the VIVC catalogue, Albaranzeuli Nero is only listed as a synonym, but in Wine Grapes it is listed as an independent variety. Molinera should not be confused with the Molinara variety due to the similarity in name. Molinera was a crossing partner of the new varieties Alba, Lomanto and Nitodal.

If I were to rate websites, you would deserve the highest rating. It is rare to come across websites that provide such a large amount of data and are still so intuitive to use. Respect for the lovingly researched and informatively prepared encyclopedia. Keep it up!
