Mission estate

The oldest winery in New Zealand in the Hawke's Bay area (North Island) was founded in 1851 by French missionaries. Since then it is owned by "The Catholic Society of Mary". The 32 hectares of vineyards are planted with Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, Pinot Gris and Riesling. Among the best wines are those under the Jewelstone label (Cabernet-Merlot, Chardonnay, Noble Riesling).
