Millardet et Grasset 101 O.P.

The red grape variety is an interspecific new variety between Millardet et Grasset 101 (Riparia x Rupestris) x Riparia Gloire de Montpellier. The parent variety is probably already extinct. This is an open-pollinated (O.P.) seedling of the Millardet et Grasset 101 variety, which contains genes from Vitis riparia and Vitis rupestris. The hybrid was created by grower Eugène Kuhlmann (1858-1932) and used for further new varieties. These included Etoile I, Etoile II, Léon Millot, Lucie Kuhlmann, Maréchal Foch, Maréchal Joffre and Pinard.
