Metzen

Old Austrian area measure. A Metzen with 1,918 m² is a third yoke with 5,755 m². Likewise, Metzen (also Metze) was an old yardstick in Germany and Austria with regionally very different volumes. These were 3.4 (Prussia), 37 (Bavaria), 53.3 and 61.49 and 80 (Austria-Hungary). See also under area measures and hollow measures.
