The winery is located in St. Peter in the municipality of Bolzano in the South Tyrol wine-growing region (Trentino-South Tyrol). The "Messnerhof" has been in family ownership for a century. It is also possible to rent a holiday apartment. As a previously pure grape producer, since 2003 the wines are vinified and marketed by the farm itself. The farm is managed by the owner Bernhard Pichler. The vineyards cover three hectares in the locations St. Peter, Missian and Gries. They are planted with the white wine varieties Sauvignon Blanc and Gewürztraminer, as well as with the red wine varieties Vernatsch(Schiava) with partly 85-year-old vines), Edelschwarze(Negrara Trentina), G'salzne, G'schlafne(Rossara Trentina?), Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Tempranillo and Syrah.

The grapes are gently processed into wine by hand and bottled. The product range includes the four South Tyrolean DOC wines Terlaner Sauvignon and Gewürztraminer, St. Magdalener Classico and Lagrein Riserva, as well as the two IGT wines "Belleus" (red wine cuvèe) and "Mos Maiorum" (St. Magdalener according to old fathers' custom). Depending on the type of wine, the wines are aged in steel tanks, in large wooden barrels up to 2,400 litres, in 500-litre tonneau or in barrique. As a special feature a vine sponsorship is offered. The winery is a member of the associations Freie Weinbauern Südtirol, Lorenzinacht, Federazione Italiana Vignaioli Indipendenti, Confédération Européenne des Vignerons Indépendants and Südtiroler Weinstraße.
