The Portuguese wine production and trading house "Vinhos Messias" was founded in 1926. The vineyards of the family business cover 100 hectares of vines. There are estates in the DOC areas Douro (in the Porto suburb of Vila Nova de Gaia) and Bairrada (Quinta da Cachão in Mealhada). Cardoso Dias, who is responsible for winemaking, is one of the best Portuguese winemakers. He represents Portugal in the OIV, writes wine books and trains oenologists. A wide range of port wines, sparkling wines, as well as red and white wines are produced from their own vineyards. In addition, wines are bought in and blended. The flagship of the house is the long-lasting Douro DOC red wine made from the autochthonous varieties Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca.
