The DO in the large region of La Mancha is named after the village of the same name. It is located northwest of the DO La Mancha between the two cities of Toledo and Madrid. On 12,800 hectares of vineyards, the red grape varieties Garnacha Tinta (80%) and Cencibel (Tempranillo) predominate, from which red wines and rosados are made, mainly for the nearby city of Madrid. The DO is not permitted for white wines.
