Singular situation in the municipality Bad Kreuznach in the German cultivation area Nahe. Vineyards in the district "Hinkelstein" were first mentioned in 1612. Hinkelstein is the name for an unhewn block of limestone that was found there at that time. The vineyards, which are oriented southwest to south and have a gradient of 5 to 30%, cover 42 hectares of vineyard area. The soils consist of loamy gravel on clay from the Tertiary period with partly fine sandy loam. The Riesling variety is mainly cultivated here. The Anheuser Paul, Finkenauer Anton, Reichsgraf von Plettenberg and Staatsweingut Bad Kreuznach wineries, for example, have their share of the site.
