The red grape variety is a new breeding between Shiroka Melnishka x Cabernet Sauvignon. However, the sire variety Cabernet Sauvignon indicated in the breeding list was not confirmed by DNA analyses carried out in 2005. The cross was made in Bulgaria in 1963 by the breeders Z. Zankov, Y. Atanasov and G. Karamitov. It must not be confused with the Rubin Bolgarskii, Rubin Golodrigi or Rubin Tairovsky varieties due to the similarity of names. The vine produces dark red wines with fruity aromas. In 2016, no stocks were reported (statistics Kym Anderson).
