The red grape variety is a new cross between Shiroka Melnishka x Cabernet Sauvignon. However, the father variety Cabernet Sauvignon stated in the breeding list was not confirmed in DNA analyses carried out in 2005. The cross was made in 1963 in Bulgaria by the breeders Z. Zankov, Y. Atanasov and G. Karamitov. It should not be confused with the varieties Rubin Bolgarskii, Rubin Golodrigi or Rubin Tairovsky because of similarities in name. The vine yields dark-coloured red wines with a fruity aroma. No stocks were reported in 2016 (Kym Anderson).
For my many years of work as an editor with a wine and culinary focus, I always like to inform myself about special questions at Wine lexicon. Spontaneous reading and following links often leads to exciting discoveries in the wide world of wine.
