Megyer

Hungarian winery with headquarters in Sárospatak in the Tokaj-Hegyalja wine-growing region. Since 1992 it has been owned by the French investor group C.F.G.V.T. The winery also includes the former Rákóczi cellar, which was once owned by the famous noble Rákóczi family. Also part of the estate is Pajzos as a second winery, both estates are run under the same Hungarian administration and the cellar facilities in Bodrogolaszi are also shared. The vineyards cover 79 hectares of vines in the Megyer site, named after one of the tribes from the time of the "land grab" in the 9th century. They are planted with the varieties Furmint (45%), Hárslevelű (25%), Muscat Lunel (Muscat Blanc) and Chardonnay. The quality wines are vinified reductively, the Aszús oxidatively. The winery is a member of the "Tokaj Renaissance" association and produces all typical Tokaj brands.
