Producer description of "Weingut Leo Maurer"

The winery is located in the municipality of Röschitz at the foot of the Manhartsberg south of Retz in the west of the Lower Austrian wine-growing region of Weinviertel. The family has been resident here for four generations. The business was taken over in 2001 by Leo Maurer jun. (graduate of the Krems School of Viticulture) and his wife Manuela (state-certified wine manager, practice on winery in Oregon-USA). The parents Alfred and Maria Maurer help in the vineyard and contribute their experience. The vineyards cover 14 hectares of vineyards in the Gspött, Haidweingärten, Himmelreich, Königsberg, Mühlberg, Reipersberg; Sängerleiten and Stoitzenberg vineyards. They are planted with the white wine varieties Grüner Veltliner, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc and Gelber Muskateller as well as with the red wine varieties Zweigelt and Blauburger.
