The winery is located in the municipality of Niederhausen in the German wine-growing region of Nahe. Together with his father Oskar, who died in 1993, Helmut Mathern set the course for advancement in the 1980s. After his early death in 2002, his widow Gloria, who was trained as an interior designer, took over the business. Julien Chevalier is responsible as cellar master and oenologist. The guest house "Alte Schule" is attached. The vineyards cover 11 hectares of vines in the single vineyard sites Felsensteyer, Hermannshöhle, Kertz, Pfaffenstein, Rosenberg and Rosenheck (Niederhausen), as well as Dellchen and Kirschheck (Norheim). They are mainly planted with Riesling (9 ha), as well as the Dornfelder, Müller-Thurgau, Pinot Blanc and Würzer varieties. Bottle-fermented sparkling wines, secco (sparkling wine), grape juice, yeast brandy and liqueurs are also produced. Around 70,000 bottles of wine are produced annually
