Massif d'Uchaux

Independent municipal appellation in the Département Vaucluse in the southern French appellation Côtes du Rhône-Villages (see the AOC regulations there). Since 2005, the name may also be mentioned on the label for red wines. The vineyards are situated at an altitude of 100 to 280 metres above sea level and comprise 152 hectares of vineyards in the five municipalities of Lagarde-Paréol, Mondragon, Piolenc, Sérignan du Comtat and Uchaux. The hills of the Uchaux Massif were already used by the Romans to grow vines and the famous Roman road Via Agrippa crosses the area.
